Dino began with a single focus: developing and supplying composite decking designed specifically for the UK market. From those beginnings, the business has grown into a nationwide operation spanning decking, cladding, fencing, balustrade and substructure systems, supported by a 50+ strong team and dedicated delivery fleet. The timeline below charts the people, products and investments that have shaped Dino since 2017.
Brothers Richard and Matthew King launch Dino Decking, initially focused on supplying composite decking directly to UK customers.
The brothers carried out extensive research into the composition of wood-plastic composite, exploring how different ratios of wood fibre, polymers and additives influence durability, moisture resistance, stability and long-term performance. These findings informed the refinement of conventional WPC formulations and the development of composite products specifically suited to the UK’s wet, variable climate and year-round outdoor use.
Dino’s directors secure Unit 9F-1 at Firsdale Industrial Estate in Leigh — a small industrial unit that becomes the company’s first operational base. From these modest beginnings, the foundations are laid for the warehousing, fulfilment and nationwide distribution operation that follows.
Additional colours join the collection, taking our classic composite decking range to eight colours, while 4-metre boards are introduced across the range.
Continued growth sees Dino move operations to Wetheral Close in Hindley Green, Wigan, establishing the site at the centre of our growing business.
When COVID-19 brought unprecedented disruption to UK businesses, Dino rapidly adapted its warehouse and fulfilment operations. Revised working practices and enhanced safety measures allowed the team to protect staff while continuing to process and dispatch orders nationwide. Maintaining stock availability and a reliable supply chain throughout the pandemic became an important test of the business’s operational resilience.
We launch our Premium Composite Decking range featuring Dino Shield™ — a water-resistant polymer sleeve bonded around all four sides of the board. With the thickest capped shell available in the UK, Dino Shield™ delivers enhanced protection against moisture, stains, scratches, mould and UV exposure, helping our Premium boards stay looking better for longer.
Composite cladding joins the Dino range, marking the company’s first major expansion beyond decking and laying the foundations for a broader range of composite products for outdoor spaces.
Sarah Winstanley joins Dino as the company’s first dedicated office support team member, marking the beginning of a more structured customer and operational support function as order volumes continue to grow.
Dino Decking is featured on ITV’s Love Your Garden with Alan Titchmarsh, supplying composite decking for a garden transformation. The appearance brings Dino products to a national television audience and marks an early milestone in the brand’s growing recognition.
Our range expands beyond decking boards with the introduction of weight-bearing aluminium joists and adjustable pedestal supports, creating a complete system for strong, level and long-lasting raised decks. With adjustable heights from 15mm to 528mm and supports rated to 1,000kg each, the system gives installers far greater flexibility when building over uneven or difficult ground.
Continued growth drives further investment in stockholding, fulfilment and nationwide distribution. Dino’s delivery fleet expands to 20 vehicles, including flatbeds capable of carrying up to 1.4 tonnes each, providing the capacity and flexibility to deliver increasing volumes of composite products directly to customers across the UK.
Matthew Fowden is appointed Warehouse Manager as Dino’s stockholding and fulfilment operation continues to grow. The appointment adds dedicated warehouse leadership to support increasing order volumes, inventory management and the day-to-day efficiency of the expanding distribution operation.
Dino expands further beyond decking with the launch of its composite fencing range, bringing the same low-maintenance, durable composite approach to garden boundaries and outdoor spaces. The launch marks another step in Dino’s evolution into a broader composite-products brand.
Dino acquires Unit 31, Kingsland Grange in Woolston, expanding our operational footprint and supporting the continued growth of the business.
As Dino’s customer base and operations continue to expand, Sarah Winstanley is promoted to Support Manager and the senior office support team grows, strengthening the company’s ability to manage customer enquiries, aftersales support and day-to-day operations at greater scale.
Dino is featured by International Business Times UK following a period of significant growth, with the publication highlighting £7.64 million in total assets, £5.29 million in net assets and the company’s focus on recycled materials and sustainable composite products.
Dino products appear on BBC One’s Homes Under the Hammer, with composite decking and glass balustrade used as part of a property transformation. The feature showcases the growing breadth of the Dino range to a national audience.
Dino’s delivery fleet grows to more than 50 vehicles, including flatbeds and specialist vehicles designed around an increasingly diverse product range. The additional capability allows products requiring more careful handling, such as glass balustrade systems, to be transported safely and efficiently across the UK.
Anthony Vickers is appointed Transport Manager, bringing dedicated oversight to Dino’s growing delivery operation. The role strengthens fleet management, route planning and day-to-day transport coordination as the scale and complexity of nationwide deliveries continue to increase.
Dino takes on additional premises at Unit 1, Greenbank Industrial Estate in Hindley, providing further operational and storage capacity. The additional space supports continued growth while plans progress for a larger, purpose-built facility designed around the company’s long-term requirements.
Dino acquires the freehold of an 7-acre site at Meridian 6, becoming the development’s first and anchor occupier. Plans are submitted for a purpose-built 60,500 sq ft headquarters and distribution facility, while keeping the business firmly rooted in Wigan. Remaining close to the existing operation helps support the team, maintain continuity for customers and create further employment opportunities as the business grows.
From two brothers and one product category to a 50+ strong UK team, Dino has now served more than 100,000 customers and built a reputation backed by over 5,000 Trustpilot reviews.
